OPI Just Lanai-ing Around

The third color I got from the OPI Hawaii Collection is a refreshing raspberry creme with a silver shimmer that just sends it over the top. Just what I needed to pull me out of the winter doldrums! As with the other two, the application was flawless and covered in two easy coats.

OPI Do You Take Lei Away?

Another one from the OPI Hawaii Collection is a pinkish beige nude creme called Do You Take Lei Away? that varies with the light. In daylight the pink undertones are really obvious but in artificial light (and camera light) it's more of a nude beige.

OPI Do You Take Lei Away?, two coats plus topcoat
It seems that OPI does this shade in many of their collections and I was afraid that it would be a dupe for at least one of them so I was pleasantly surprised to see that it wasn't. Here I've compared it to six other OPIs that looked very similar in the bottle, but not so much one a nail wheel.

Compared to other OPIs
1. Tickle My France-y
2. My Very First Knockwurst
3. Baring It All*
4. Do You Take Lei Away?
5. Don't Bossa Nova Me Around
6. Don't Pretzel My Buttons
7. Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?

*Baring It All is a "mystery" polish that was in a duo set at TJ Maxx. Many of these are renamed polishes from other collections from OPI and Nicole by OPI and this particular one hasn't been identified as to which original color it might be.

OPI Hello Hawaii Ya?

I was so excited to see the new OPI Hawaii Collection at Sally Beauty Supply when I stopped in between blizzards. I am not kidding, we have had a blizzard every single weekend for the past three weeks and the snow in my front yard is up to my shoulders. In fact, it is snowing again as I write this and it will turn into a "blizzardcane" tonight, with hurricane-force winds depositing another 12" to 18" of snow. I could just cry. So you can see how something like this would cheer me up, right? I got three of the twelve colors and today I'l show you my favorite, Hello Hawaii Ya?

OPI Hello Hawaii Ya?,  two coats plus topcoat
This is a perfect grayed-out purple creme, absolutely flawless application. I thought it might be similar to the much sought-after Parlez Vous OPI but, while it's definitely a close relative, it's not a dupe.

Glitter Gal Kangaroo Island

Glitter Gal is a polish brand based out of Australia and Kangaroo Island is from their Aussie Slang collection. When I saw Sheila review it on Pointless Cafe I just knew I had to have it! It is my most perfect orangey red, practically the color of tomato juice. I wear it so often that I ordered two more bottle since I was going through my first bottle so quickly. Love. This. Color.

This shot was playing around with my iPhone 6 and adding type with the Over app, but here is another shot more like what I usually do. No matter what, this color is gor-gee-ous!

Zoya Delight 2015 Collection

**These products were provided by the manufacturer for an unbiased review**

Zoya's Delight 2015 Collection has three cremes and three shimmers. I'll start with my favorite of the collection, Leslie, which Zoya describes as "a soft spring lavender metallic with an energizing turquoise flash." If you only get one from the collection, this is the one to get. Absolutely gorgeous! The blue shimmer really enhances the lavender metallic.

Zoya Leslie, three coats plus topcoat.
Eden is described as "a classic spring flower pink in a glossy cream finish" and I can't argue with that!

Zoya Eden, two coats, no topcoat
Zoya describes Lillian as "a faded aquamarine with a glossy cream finish" but I would say it's more of a neon pastel blue. Unfortunately, neons make my skin tones look ghastly but the color really is lovely.

Zoya Lillian, two coats, no topcoat

Rayne is described as "a dewy, spring blue metallic with an energizing turquoise metallic flash" and I would agree. This one is probably the "flashiest" of the shimmers.

Zoya Rayne, three coats plus topcoat
To show how it works as a topper, here is one coat of Rayne over two coats of Lillian. I like it!

One coat of Rayne over two coats of Lillian
Zoya calls Tiana "a pistachio gelato green in a glossy cream finish" but to me it is more of a neon mint. Again, these kinds of colors are not the most flattering to my skin tone but it would be a great accent color.

Zoya Tiana, two coats, no topcoat
Daisy is described as "a refreshing lemon merengue yellow metallic with an energizing turquoise metallic flash." I have to say that I was surprised at the choice to put a blue flash in a yellow foil. It doesn't quite make it a duochrome but it definitely flavors the color.

Zoya Daisy, three coats plus topcoat
Each of the cremes covered well in two coats but the shimmers still showed visible nail line even with three coats. Zoya doesn't say that they are meant to be toppers but I showed Rayne over Lillian as an example of using it as one. I may also try stamping it, just to see what happens. All of the shimmers dried to a satiny finish but I added a topcoat to bring out the flash. I should also warn you that the "flash" in each of the shimmers can easily get all over your cuticle so be careful with application. The formula on those is thinner than that of the cremes and it's easy to flood the cuticle if you overload the brush.

CND Vinylux - Wild Moss

Hi!  I have a quick NOTD post for you today.  I took this picture at my desk because the lighting was great and it really showed the depth of this fun polish.  This was my first experience with CND Vinylux and I really enjoyed it.  I wore this for well over a week with no tip wear at all and I type all day long.

Wild Moss is a sage green shade with gold, blue and pink shimmer.  It's so gorgeous and can almost pass for neutral nails.

Have you tried Vinylux?  If so, what do you think??

OPI Romantically Involved

Happy Valentine's Day! Because the movie opens today I have for you Romantically Involved, a delicious red from the OPI movie tie-in to 50 Shades Of Grey because what says "I love you" more than a good consensual spanking, eh? (For some reason I keep wanting to call this color In A Relationship…) Erin already reviewed Cement The Deal but I didn't care for any of the grays so I only got this red. Isn't that weird? Erin is all about reds and I'm all about grays!

50 Shades Of Grey
Romantically Involved, two coats plus topcoat
I don't have an awful lot of reds but this one goes right at the top because the color is so great on me, the formula was awesome, and it didn't stain! It's so hard to find a red that's not all stainy. Erin may have more reds to choose from, but I thought I'd compare this to the ones that I have that are even close.

50 Shades Of Grey
Comparisons
OPI Skyfall and Lost On Lombard are both a bit darker and Essie Forever Yummy and Fishnet Stockings are lighter (and both stained terribly.) The actual color is closer to the one on the nail wheel because who knows why Blogger changes colors once they're uploaded? They matched on my monitor!

Buckler's Chapped Skin Remedy & Chapped Lip Remedy

***Polish provided for review.  All opinions are my own.***

It's a double post day!  Happy Friday the 13th!

Today I have 2 products that have been absolutely saving my skin and lips this winter.  It's about 15 degrees in Baltimore and my skin is suffering.  When these came in the mail, I literally jumped for joy.

Chapped Skin Remedy is described as:  A heavy-duty, non-oily, all climate formula that provides deep hydration, repairing chapped, irritated skin and guarding it from the effects of the elements. Highly recommended for hands, feet, elbows, and all areas prone to extreme dryness.  Why It's Different: Buckler's is jam packed with nutrients such as Chamomile and Calendula extracts, Aloe juice and Shea Butter. The formula is certified vegan and contains no parabens, perfumes or harsh colorants.  Everything about this is so up my alley.  It's thick but not greasy, it's not all paraben-y, it's vegan and has no scent.  When you rub it in, it feels like it's going to be greasy and like magic, it absorbs and leaves your skin smooth and soft.  It is perfect.

Chapped Lip Remedy is described as:  A unique no shine lip balm that locks in moisture allowing active ingredients to protect and prevent dryness. Provides a physical block to wind and other extreme conditions. This has a special place next to my bed and I put it on every night and before I leave in the morning so I can layer it under my lipstick.  I love that it has no shine and it's not tacky at all.  It's like Vaseline or Aquahor but thicker...and better.

I haven't been able to find a hand lotion or a lip balm that I love in a long and now that I've found Buckler's I'm never letting go!  I can't say enough good things about them.  These products are available on Gloss 48 for 3 more days so RUN and get them.  Your winter skin will thank you.  And me for convincing you to get them.

OPI - Cement The Deal

Hey everyone!  I picked up Cement the Deal from OPI's Fifty Shades of Grey Collection on a recent trip to Cosmoprof (thanks to my dear friend and lover of nail polish, TF) and I wanted to share it with you.

OPI describes it as:  I'd sign anything to get my hands on this stony, cool gray.  This polish leaned very greenish blue on me and it looked much cooler and grayer in the bottle,.  Either way, the polish is gorgeous and has a perfect buttery formula.  This swatch is two easy coats.

Did you get any of the polishes in this collection?  I think Robin got the red, so hopefully she will post about it soon!

Christian Louboutin Rouge

GUYS.  THIS IS A POST ABOUT CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN NAIL POLISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really wanted to write this entire post in caps and scream at you all about this polish but I will calm down a little.  A tiny bit.  But not much.  If you've been a long time reader of this blog, then you know that I LOVE red nail polish.  It looks good on me.  It's my color.  It's just perfect.  And the perfect red by Christian Louboutin that matches the sole of his shoes???? STOPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP.

My picture doesn't even do it justice because I couldn't get a good shot of the bottle and I kept holding out until I thought my nails were worthy enough to paint them with it and it was seriously causing my anxiety so I just bit the bullet and did them.  It could be better.  You will see more posts about this perfection.

MARK MY WORDS.

I just really showed my crazy in this post.  This is me.

OMG Nail Strips - Kitty Love

**These products were provided for an honest review.**

Hi! I received 3 sets of OMG Nail Strips to review and I have the first of 3 showcasing them today. Here is a little bit of info about OMG Nail Strips from their website: The future of nail art is here. OMGNailStrips are the solution to smelly, streaking nail polish and expensive manicures. Our unique nail designs are quick and easy to apply and can last up to 10 days. Our goal is to make the hottest styles of nail strips and nail stickers affordable enough for everyday wear. We currently have over 100 designs and will be adding many more in the near future.

I have to admit I was a little wary because I have only had luck with one kind of nail strip but these really exceeded my expectations! Kitty Love is a pale pink background with different cats, paw prints, fish bones, kissing cats, etc.  Love it!

I love, love, love the cats and the application was very easy. I just matched them up to my nail and then pressed them on. I have very curved nails so they bubbled a little but when I added a top coat (like the directions tell you to) they smoothed out. Sadly, my picture makes them look like they have more imperfections than they really do. But I have 2 more sets to get them right!

What do you think?  I think they are super fun and the application was so simple.  I've had them on for 3 days and they still look perfect.

Be sure to check them out here!  They are currently offering a 5 for $25 promotion with coupon code “5pack” and a 10 for $45 with the coupon code “10pack”.  They also just starting offering nail art party packs - http://www.omgnailstrips.com/nail-art-party

Sally Hansen Mirace Gel - How Nude

**These products were provided for an honest review.**

Hi everyone! I have my first Sally Hansen Miracle Gel to share with you today.  How Nude is a yellow based nude that doesn't complement my skin perfectly but applied fabulously.  Here is a little info on Miracle Gel straight from Sally Hansen. They say it better than I can!

WHAT IT IS: The first salon-quality manicure that combines pure nail color with high techno gel...exclusively from Sally Hansen. Love the high shine, glossy look of a gel manicure but could do without the complexity of LED lights, time consuming removal, and expensive price tag? Now, Sally Hansen, the leader in nail color innovation, is making manicure history with an entirely new way of thinking about long lasting nail color. Its new, patented Miracle Gel, is the first ever part lacquer, part gel manicure system that delivers up to 14 days of lasting color and shine in just 2 easy steps. Simply apply two coats of the Miracle Gel Color Coat, followed by the Miracle Gel Top Coat, to achieve the most convenient manicure, ever.

THE TECHNOLOGY: The Miracle Gel manicure contains patented Tube Technology. This allows a higher level of actives and continuous care ingredients to release into the gel lacquer film, prolonging the integrity of the filmresulting in beautifully durable, shiny nails. The advanced Color Coat, which is a combination base coat and nail color in one, and Top Coat formulas contain an oligomer, and the Top Coat also contains a photoinitiator. The photoinitiator in the Top Coat formula reticulates with the oligomer contained in the Color Coat, thus curing the formula without the need of an LED/UV light. As the manicure cures over time, it becomes more durable due to the increased hardness of the film. So LED/UV lamp curing is not necessary, only natural light. Then, when you’re ready to change up your look, Miracle Gel comes off easily with both acetone-based and acetone-free nail polish remover – no soaking, wrapping, scraping, or filing necessary.

WHAT THEY COST: Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Color Coat and Top Coat, $9.99 MSRP

Don't look at my middle finger!  ;)
I admit, I was a bad blogger and didn't leave this on for 14 days to do a wear test.  But it did last for a few days with no chips or tip wear!  What do you think about Miracle Gel?  Do you own any?

Zoya Matte Velvet Collection Swatches & Review

**These products were provided for an honest review.**

Hi guys! Today I have the Zoya Matte Velvet collection to show you. I really love the look of matte polishes but keep in mind that they usually don’t give the same wear time as regular polishes. I’ve found the best way to get a few more days out of a matte polish mani is to start with one coat of polish (they don’t recommend using a base coat), then topping with your favorite top coat, and then applying another coat of polish. I’ve been able to get at least 4+ days from using this method.

I used two coats with all of the swatches below. Matte polishes dry extra fast and can sometimes be a little thicker than regular polish, so make sure you’re applying each coat carefully.

Dovima- “A smoky charcoal-black with strong silver shimmer and a velvety MATTEVELVET finish”. I would definitely say Dovima leans more charcoal than black, but this is a fun bold color for winter.

Harlow- “A rich, saturated rose plum packed with sparkling metallic shimmer in a velvety MATTEVELVET finish”. I’m so in love with this polish, I’ve worn it twice since it arrived. I think next time I’m going to top it with a shiny top coat so make those metallic shimmers pop.

Loredana- A medium gunmetal grey, packed with silvery shimmer and a velvety MATTEVELVET finish”. In the bottles, I didn’t think Loredana and Dovima were going to be that different but you can see how much lighter and more silver Loredana is.

Posh- A medium cool-toned wine red with metallic red shimmer and a velvety MATTEVELVET finish”. The perfect matte red. I got a ton of compliments on this color. Reds can be tricky with clean-up, and Posh is no exception. Be extra careful with your application so you don’t end up staining your cuticles!

Savita- A bold, vibrant medium purple with strong red and gold shimmer with a velvet MATTEVELVET finish”. I bought Savita the first time Zoya released it a few years ago. Still one of my favorites!

VaruschkaA deep evergreen garnished with strong metallic shimmer in a velvety MATTEVELVET finish”. I love this green so much! Varuschka and Posh would make an awesome holiday mani together.

So what do you think??

My favorite? Ooh it's hard to pick. I'll say Harlow because I see myself wearing it a million more times and I should probably buy another bottle!

My least favorite? I really love this whole collection so it's hard to pick one. Probably Dovima because I have quite a few charcoal grays in my collection and with a topcoat added, it's not too different from them.
