Discount Discovery: Dermelect Polishes

I've only seen Dermelect polishes at Ulta and at $12 each they were on my look-but-don't-touch list, but when I saw several on their clearance shelves I decided to give them a try. The two I selected were a cool dark blue-gray called Excentric (their spelling, not mine) and a plumy-brown color called So Superb that reminded me of RBL Bruised.

Excentric reminded me a lot of Zoya Kelly, but since I can't find that right now and because previous posts have shown how far off my color memory is these days, I won't call it a dupe. Application was easy and it covered well in two coats. (Update: found Kelly. Total dupe!)

So Superb is a one of those universally flattering shades that everyone needs in their stash of polishes. Application was just as good as it was with Excentric.

I really appreciate that Ulta will clearance price polishes because it gives me a chance to try brands and colors I might not have otherwise. (Now if only they'd discount butter LONDONs!) I was curious about this premium brand and now that I've used them I can say that they're a great polish at $5.99 but the color would have to be unique to get me to pay full price for them. There was nothing that really stood out for me, either with the bottle and brush, or the formula, or the colors. But definitely worth checking out the clearance shelves at Ulta to see what shows up!
