NOTD: Essie Parka Perfect

Hi everyone!  Merry Christmas Eve Eve!  I have a quick NOTD swatch of Essie Parka Perfect today. Essie calls it a shimmering alpine gray, I call it the perfect muted seafoam with shimmer.  Either way, it's perfect.  No lobster hands!!  I did have to use 3 coats but I think it was worth it.  I know my cuticles don't look the best but the color was too pretty not to post.

China Glaze Twinkle Collection for Holiday 2014

***Polish provided for review.  All opinions are my own.***

Hi!  Just in time for Christmas, I have the China Glaze Twinkle Collection to show you today.  Lots for fun glitters and the signature perfect CG reds.

Dancing and Prancing is a muted multi glitter with small hexes and microglitter.  It looks like it's mainly purple, copper and green which is a gorgeous combo IMO.

Define Good...is a shimmery deep red.  This is just perfection.  I've already worn this a few times this month and don't see myself stopping any time soon.

I'd Melt For You is a silver chrome.  This is a one coater!!  Not my style but I know people love it.  It also didn't show imperfections on the nail the way lots of chromes do.  Great formula.

Out Like A Light is a deep gray creme.  I love this polish.  So classy and clean.

Meet Me Under The Stars is a black and silver microglitter in a black jelly base.  I layered 2 coats for this swatch buy you could also do one thin coat over a color to make the black pop.  Very New Year's Eve!

No Peeking is a grape shimmer.  I love this muted purple and the shimmer is very pretty.  It can read a touch frosty...

Tip Your Hat is my #1 from this collection.  Red creme perfection.  LOVE!

De-Light is a gold and silver glitter with mini hexes and mini bars in a clear base.  Love this for a little extra sparkle.

Pine-ing For Glitter is a forest green microglitter.  I this is a really fun polish!  I layered it over a chocolate creme and loved the combo.  Understated but so pretty.

Feeling Twinkly is a cobalt microglitter.  I layered this over a baby blue creme so the cobalt would really show.  This combo is stunning!

Chillin with my Snow-mies is a large matte white hex glitter in a clear base.  I had to do a little fishing and some placement with the glitter but it was well worth it.  It really looks like big snowflakes.

December To Remember is such a unique color.  It's a muted blue with gold and pink tiny flakies.  It's way better in person.  I loved wearing this polish!

What did you think of the Twinkle Collection?  I love December To Remember and Tip Your Hat.  China Glaze always has the best creme formula and their holiday reds just never disappoint me.  I hope you are all enjoying your holiday celebrations, whatever they may be!!

The Twinkle collection consists of 12 polishes and you can see them all at China Glaze's website. You can purchase China Glaze nail polish at Sally's, Ulta, and many other salons.

Zoya Wishes Holiday 2014 Collection

***This polish was provided for review.  All opinions are my own.***

Hi!  Happy almost Thanksgiving!  I hope you're having a relaxing week.  I have the gorgeous Zoya Wishes Holiday 2014 Collection to show you today.  There are some stunners in this one!

Prim can best be described as a velvet blue metallic with a full coverage, high-density pigment and buttery smooth application.  I've seen some say this comes across as brush strokey but I didn't get it.  I love this color.  Not so much on me, but I love it.  Can't beat the Hunger Games name reference as well!

Willa can be best described as a full-coverage, densely pigmented onyx black cream. Originally released as 'Black Swan' during Zang Toi's NYFW SS15 show. A timeless, classic black for all occasions!  I did think "what's the big deal with a black creme?"  And then I used it and realized that it's the PERFECT black creme.  I wore this for 4 days and it looks perfect the entire time.

Haven can best be described as a true holiday plum liquid metal with a thin vein of orchid to ensure brilliance.  This is my favorite of the collection.  Just stunning with that perfect Zoya formula. I know my nails are super short in this picture.  I had to wear it the same day I got the package in the mail! My nails are a little longer and round again now.

On to the Pixies!  Nori can be best described as a sapphire blue Magical PixieDust with holographic hex glitter, perfect for any holiday festivity!  I don't love this color blue on me but the formula was good, 2 even coats and super sparkly.  And I love a Kim Kardashian reference!  My favorite guilty pleasure.

Thea can be best described described as a deep amethyst Magical PixieDust with an orchid flash, packed full of party-ready holographic hex glitter.  Love this color! Also 2 even coats.

Imogen can be best described as a black crystal Magical PixieDust with holographic hex glitter, the perfect complement to a brighter shade or an accent for nail art.  I would totally do a Willa and Imogen mani for a fun night with Imogen as a couple accent nails.  Dark and glittery, my favorite combo.

I always look forward to the Zoya Holiday collections.  Willa and Haven are must haves for me.  What about you?

Zoya sells for USD$9 and is available at Zoya.com and Ulta stores, nationwide.

Sweetheart Polish - Romance & Royalty

***Polish provided for review.  All opinions are my own.***

Happy Tuesday!  I have two gorgeous polishes from Sweetheart Polish to show you today. Sweetheart is a new to me indie brand and I was really pleased with them.

Romance is a lilac linear holo and I LOVE it.  It's darker in the bottle than on the nail and for me, that's a good thing.  This color is so sweet and pretty.

Royalty is a purple jelly with holo glitter.  I layered one coat over Romance because the jelly was very sheer and the glitter payoff is high.  Purple madness!

These polishes will be available on Gloss48.com for one week only starting tomorrow, Wednesday 11/26/14 at 11 am EST.  Make sure you check them (and the rest of their amazing sales!!) before they are all sold out!!

KBShimmer Winter 2014 - Part 2

***Product provided for review.  All opinions are my own.***

Hi!  I'm back with Part 2 of the KBShimmer Winter Collection 2014 today.  Get ready for some winter sparkle!

Flake Dance:  Like the wintry sky in the middle of a storm, Flake Dance captures the essence of falling snow. Sliver holographic snowflakes dance among a scattering of smaller silver holographic glitters. Use over your favorite cream color for an instant wintery manicure. I used one coat of Flake Dance over a black creme.  So sparkly.  This is a Christmas Eve contender for sure.

Dressed to Gild:  A gold cousin to Hexy Bikini, this textured polish is rich with holographic gold glitters. Hints of lavender and lime holographic glitters add depth and extra shine.   Best in two coats, use with your favorite base coat for best results.  I love this funky gold.  The lavender and lime really come through and the texture isn't too chunky.  Gorgeous!

Pine-ing for Yule:  2014 Toys For Tots ® charity polish. All over the world the evergreen, triangle shaped pine tree has become a symbol of the holiday season. This year, KBShimmer pays homage to the Christmas Tree with the 2014 charity polish, Pine-ing For Yule. Holographic evergreen triangle “trees” swim among red mini star “tree toppers.” Holographic glitters in red and sliver light up this Christmas polish with their rainbow sparkle.  Micro holographic glitters complete this wintery polish.  I love the thought behind this polish and the awesome holiday glitters.  This is one coat over OPI Danke Shiny Red.

Kringle All The Way:  Circle glitters are the my favorite glitter shape, so when it came to creating a polish to represent my love of the Christmas season, I could not help by think all those circles looked like glittering ornaments. From small to large, in the classic red, green, and sliver, this glitter topper will make any manicure merry and bright.  This topper is thick and packed with glitter, and is best dabbed on in 1 coat.  This polish was originally part of the 2013 Winter Collection.  This is my favorite.  When I layered this over a muted gold, it just popped.  Christmas Days nails!!

What did you think about the KBShimmer Winter 2014 Collection?  Did you pick any up?  Kringle All The Way and Spot Sign are my must haves.

The Winter Collection is available on KB Shimmer website for $7.50-8.75.

KBShimmer Winter 2014 - Part 1

***Product provided for review.  All opinions are my own.***

Hi!  I have Part One of the KBShimmer Winter 2014 Collection for you today.  I love all of KBShimmer's collections but I think I look forward to the Winter collection the most.  Their holiday colors are always such a knockout!

Let’s Sleight Together has become my favorite jeans and t-shirt polish, as it seems to go with all my casual outfits.  With a pale gray creally base, this muted polish features hex glitters in green, navy and pale mint, circles glitters in blueberry and micro holographic glitters for shine and sparkle.  This swatch is 3 thin coats.  Love it!

Mauve On Over features a pale mauve creally base that sets off a explosion of colored hexes in orange, navy and aqua.  Mauve On Over is based on the Pantone Fall/Winter 2014 color, Mauve Mist, a color we think will transition beautifully from Fall, to Winter, right into Spring.  This polish feels so cozy to me.  Swatch is 3 thin coats.  I love the unexpected mix of glitter.

Snow Way:  This snow inspired polish features a pale sky blue creally base with white glitters. A micro sparkle glistens like fallen snow on a clear winter’s day.  This classic KBShimmer polish was first launched in 2012 and is now returning even better then ever!  Snow Way was my problem child.  I couldn't get it to level out.  Next time I would layer this over a similar pale blue.  Stunning color and the white glitter is gorgeous!

Spot Sign:  Like a wild cat ready to pounce, this spotted polish is ready to bring out our wild side. Black leopard spot shaped glitters are accented by black dots, small black hexes and micro holographic sparkle.  1 dabbed on Coat Recommended, Glitter Placement may be needed depending on how many spots are desired and the curve of the nail bed.  COME ONNNNNNNNNNNN!  I saved the best for last.  This polish is amazing.  I can't paint leopard spots and now I never even have to attempt it.  I used the Dabbing method to get them on and sealed it with one coat of Out The Door.  I layered it over KBShimmer Radiant Orchid (Summer 2014) because it's still one of my favorite polishes.

I'll be back soon with Part Two!

The Winter Collection is available on KB Shimmer website for $7.50-8.75.

Discount Discovery: Love, Charlotte 881TAU

I remember reading some time ago that Color Club made a polish for the Charlotte Russe chain but since there wasn't one of those stores near me. I forgot about it until they opened one in the mall near where I live so I decided to check it out. What a treat! They sell for $3.50 each or 2/$6 so being the thrifty person that I am, I got four to maximize the savings. Ha. They don't have the typical sort of polish names that other companies use, even Color Club. Instead they an almost industrial combination of numbers and letters, but at least the letters sort of indicate the color. This one is 881TAU, for taupe, I would guess. It's nice that I've found a Discount Discovery that is available in a wider area and isn't temporary due to being a sale or a closeout!

Love, Charlotte by Color Club 881TAU, two coats plus topcoat
For $3 or $3.50 this is a great bargain. The formula was a breeze to work with and the color is on trend with the more expensive lines — in a bottle comparison this is a dupe for Essie Cocktails And Coconuts, right down to the subtle shimmer that stays in the bottle. The cap is tall and easy to hold and the brush is round like the Essie brushes, so it flares out nicely. So far this is the only one I've tried but I'm impressed with it and will continue to stop in to see how often they add to their color selection. One of the other ones I got is an amazing sapphire blue with a bright shimmer that I can't wait to try out!

Sally Hansen Expresso

I love, love, love this color but hate the name — the beverage is espresso and I cringe when I hear people call it expresso, but maybe Sally Hansen is making a pun or something. In any case, the color is so gorgeous I'll forgive them.

Sally Hansen Expresso
Erin is usually the one drawn to the reds but lately I've been wanting something more colorful and seasonal. I wasn't even looking for a red when this one caught my eye as I was checking out the 99¢ SinfulColors sale at Walgreens (yes, I got some and I'll be reviewing them later…)

I'm not a fan of the brush and bottle in this line but I can't say enough about how beautiful this color is and how well it wears. I wore it for a full week and never tired of the color and it barely even showed tip wear, unusual for such a dark color. Two thumbs up for this one! Definitely moving it into my permanent rotation section.

Essie Fall 2014 Dressed To Kilt Collection Comparisons

Fall is one of my favorite seasons because of all the rich colors and lately the Fall polish collections have been becoming favorites of mine for the very same reason. Essie's new Dressed To Kilt Collection has six gorgeous new colors but I managed to restrain myself and only get two. I'm sure you are shocked to find that I chose the green, Fall In Line, and the gray, Take It Outside.

Essie Fall In Line, two coats plus topcoat
Fall In Line is a cool dusty green creme, smooth formula that covers easily in two coats. Absolutely loved it!

Essie Take It Outside, two coats plus topcoat
Take It Outside is an opaque taupe-y gray, a color that I just can't get enough of. Loved this one even more!

Because I love these colors so much you just knew I'd have some for comparisons, didn't you? Well, here they are:

Essie Taupe/Gray Comparisons
Take It Outside and Master Plan look almost exactly the same in the bottle but you can see that on the nail Master Plan is a bit darker and warmer, but not by much. If you have one you probably don't need the other unless you're an obsessive collector like me. Jazz is much yellower and Miss Fancy Pants is much darker, so no dupes there.

Essie Green Comparisons
In the photo Vested Interest looks darker and bluer than Fall In Line but in person there was very little noticeable difference. The major difference was that Vested Interest is more of a cruelly formula and Fall In Line is a true creme. Color-wise I'd call them dupes so go for whichever formula you prefer.

NYC New York Color Midnight Beauty Collection

***Product provided for review.  All opinions are my own.***

Happy Friday!  I hope you all are liking the look of the blog.  We have a few more changes planned so stay tuned.  Today I have a makeup post for you.  Nail blogging is a gateway drug for a makeup addiction! Once I started following so many nail blogs, that lead to makeup blogs, which lead to YouTube beauty vloggers and now I'm just addicted to all things beauty. So hopefully you like the change of pace over here.

This Halloween, turn up the drama with the new Midnight Beauty collection from NYC New York Color. From sultry eyes to shimmering nails, this collection is full of vivid colors you’ll want to sink your teeth into at a price that won’t take a bite out of your wallet. With sky-high volume mascara, pigment-packed shadows and lipsticks, bold eyeliner and lashes, and never-chip nail color, NYC New York Color lets your bring out your wild side…at least until the sun comes up.

Expert Last Lip Color ($1.99): The rich, creamy lipstick goes on smooth and lasts for up to six hours, and never feathers or bleeds. With a color-matched component, these heart-stopping hues with long-lasting shine will stay on all night long.  I really enjoyed these lipsticks.  My swatches are one swipe of each but I swatched them on my lips as well and did 2 coats and they were perfectly opaque.  They are a creme finish and nicely moisturizing.  Red or Alive is a perfect orange red.  Immortal Vixen is a very deep vampy burgundy and Dark Rebirth is the blackest black.  I will find an excuse to wear Dark Rebirth!  Maybe trick or treating??  For $1.99, you should pick up all 3.

Individual Eyes Custom Compact in Hate the Light ($4.99): These sultry shadow collections are specially coordinated to intensify and enhance your eye color. With a formula that contains nourishing Vitamins A and E, with Green Tea extract, these silky powders blend smoothly and evenly. Each shade can be worn alone or blended, and kits include a double-ended professional applicator and step-by-step instructions to help you create your Halloween look.  These eye shadows are so silky and pigmented.  My swatches are one swipe over the primer that's included in the palette.  You could create a gorgeous Halloween smoky eye with this palette.  There are step by step instructions on the back of the palette.  And again, that price point can't be beat.

I'll be back next week with some NYC Halloween polishes!

NYC New York Color is available at CVS, Walmart, Duane Reade, Target, KMart and Family Dollar nationwide.  Keep an eye out for this collection!

Zoya Ultra Pixie Dust Fall 2014

***This polish was provided for review.  All opinions are my own.***

Hi everyone!  Like the new look of the blog?  I love how clean and fresh it looks.  So, today I have the new Ultra Pixie Dusts from Zoya and I really love them. The Ultra Pixies are special because they have "Mega Hex particles" in addition to the regular Pixie Dust formula.  They are extra sparkly.

Oswin is described as:  a true red textured PixieDust with crimson Mega Hex particles.

Arianna is described as:  a blue-toned red wine textured PixieDust with Mega Hex particles.

Noir is described as:  deep, vampy plum textured PixieDust with red Mega Hex particles.

What do you think of these vampy Ultra Pixies?  I don't think Noir photographed as beautifully as it wore.  It's gorgeous.  I want to wear it to every holiday party I go to this year.

Zoya Ultra Pixies sell for USD$10 and are available at Zoya.com and Ulta stores, nationwide.

Zoya Entice Collection - Review & Swatches

***This polish was provided for review.  All opinions are my own.***

Happy Friday! I have the Zoya Entice Collection for you today.  This collection is made up of six gorgeous fall cremes.  Right up my alley!  I've been wearing them non-stop since the weather starting changing.

Nyssa can be best described as a milk chocolate brown in the flawless, full-coverage cream formula.

Claire can be best described as a warm, rich burgundy with a flawless, full-coverage cream finish.  I just took Claire off after 3 days of wear.  It looked flawless the entire time!

Veronica can be best described as a full-coverage brilliant red wine.  I'm wearing Veronica for the second time right now on my short, square nails (I'll post a pic on our FB page!) right now.  It's truly my signature fall shade.

Margo can be best described as a modern red plum in a flawless, full-coverage cream formula.

Ryan can be best described as a classic indigo in a flawless cream formula. (Originally released during NYFW for Timo Weiland's AW14 Collection).  I want to love this blue but I just don't.  Maybe it's too warm for me and I want more black tones?  I don't love it on me.

Genevieve can be best described as a cool leather grey in the flawless full-coverage cream formula.  I apologize for my crappy picture.  I didn't realize it was so blurry until it was too late.  This pulled a little green on me but I still really like this color.

What do you think of the Entice Collection?  Veronica and Claire are my clear favorites.  The formula was so creamy and pigmented and even.

Zoya sells for USD$9 and is available at Zoya.com and Ulta stores, nationwide.
