China Glaze Avant Garden Part Two

Today I've got a bunch of polishes from the new China Glaze Avant Garden Spring 2013 collection for you. I'm so in love with this collection. It's filled with jellies, crellies, cremes and shimmers and I just can't get enough of it. When almost 100% of a collection is a MUST HAVE, China Glaze has done pretty well! Robin posted part one of this collection here. I like to include the company's description of their polishes whenever I can in a post. China Glaze's color descriptions are italicized in each paragraph below.

First up is Snap My Dragon, a bright red with a pink shimmer. Hey guess what? ONE COAT for the swatch below. I die. I thought Snap My Dragon might end up being really similar to OPI- The Color of Minnie. They are pretty close but not exact dupes. Check out the PolishAholic for her awesome comparison post. My camera freaks out when it sees red and the differences I could see with my eyes were just not showing up on the screen! Luckily, she was able the capture the differences with her camera.

Here is Budding Romance, a moss green jelly. I has really high hopes for this polish but it made me sad all around. I thought it was going to be a gorgeous olive green on the nail but it just ended up looking blah. Budding Romance is made with a LOT of yellow pigment and it stained my nails and cuticles like woah. When I clean up a mani, I use a thin stiff brush dipped in acetone to make the clean lines around my nails and then I wipe the excess off on a washcloth. The washcloth I was using looked like I had scribbled all over it with a highlighter when I was done! I really think that with less yellow in the base, this baby could have been a winner. I loved the look of it in the bottle. Three coats for the swatch below.

Dandy Lyin' Around is a gorgeous white jelly that looks like shimmery vanilla icing. Most jelly polishes require at least 3 coats for full coverage but this one only needed two. Everyone needs a sparkly soft white polish in their collection and Dandy Lyin' Around is perfect.

Next up is Mimosa's Before Mani's. What you see there is not a typo. It's a person who went a little apostrophe crazy when naming the polish. So many unnecessary apostrophes! I don't even know how to handle it. Luckily, this coral with a light wash of shimmer packs way more shimmer than it gives itself credit for! The golden shimmer in this beauty makes it super special and ready for Spring.

The last polish I have today is Keep Calm, Paint On a sea foam green with a beautiful silver shimmer throughout. I've got a million mint green polishes like this but Keep Calm, Paint On is this only one that stands out with a prominent shimmer. I just want to wear it all the time.

I also purchased Fancy Pants, indigo with pink and purple shimmer. It's amazing and I've worn it twice since buying it, a HUGE deal for a person with a polish collection the size of mine. The only reason there aren't swatch photos of it for this post is because I had just cut my nails down to nubbins and I wasn't able to get pictures of it that did it justice. You will see it soon though in another post coming up as some underwear for a sparkly glitter topper :)

Pros- The shimmers in this collection are TO. DIE. FOR. and you need them all. The formula was spot on and just what I've come to love about China Glaze.
Cons- Obviously, Budding Romance was not a winner for me. I think with a few more tweaks it really could have been a home run.
Overall- This whole collection is so cohesive and perfect for Spring. I hope I'm able to find time to do some fun nail art with it. Maybe even a water marble?! Who knows.
