So far, 2013 is looking to be pretty awesome. I'm very lucky to have some amazing girlfriends and this year is bringing change to all of our lives. Today (like at this very moment!) my friend is having her first baby. I can't wait to meet him! In April I will be a Maid of Honor in another friend's wedding. In December I will be a bridesmaid in another wedding. Throughout the year I will even get to plan my own wedding!
But today is super awesome for another reason (besides the new baby!). A very dear friend of mine got married in October of 2011. She's one of those lucky people who found the love of her life. They were engaged in October of 2010 and had their wedding exactly one year later. The wedding was beautiful and my friend wore a gorgeous pewter gown. Her wife wore dark grey to coordinate. They both looked amazing. The only thing that was wrong was that their marriage wasn't recognized as legal in the state of Maryland.
This past election, the people of Maryland spoke and decided to legalize same sex marriage. A little over a year after their wedding, my friends are able to go to the courthouse and get a marriage license. This morning we are going to the courthouse so they can be legally married in our state. It's amazing. Between the marriage, the baby, and the news that I got accepted into a graduate program, I'm just about ready to burst at the seams with joy. I could probably start crying tears of happiness at any given moment.
Since my friends already had their big fancy party, they have decided to not dress up for the courthouse. But I HAD to do a mani for the special occasion. I grabbed the pewter-iest pewter I had in my stash to represent the gorgeous gown my friend wore on her special day.
Here is one coat of Sally Hansen Insta Dri Presto Pewter. I'm honestly not sure if this is a polish you can still find. You can see on the bottle the sticky residue that was left after I removed the clearance sticker off the front. I picked this up on the cheap to use as a stamping polish.
This was the first time I used this polish for a full manicure. I had actually never used one of these Insta Dri polishes for anything other than stamping (they are great for stamping!). The one-coat coverage is pretty nice and they do dry super fast. It's got that flat wide brush that is wider than my pinky nail so I don't like using them too much. What's your nail of the day?
