I'm also pretty sure that every family member of mine that read that title freaked out a bit for a second. Sorry family.
I started with Essie Protein Base coat and used two coats of Essie- Borrowed & Blue. After it was mostly dry, I applied Ciate- Glass Slipper to the base to start a backwards gradient up to the half way point of the nail. Glass Slipper applied pretty evenly and I didn't need any special tools, just the brush from the bottle. I went back and added another coat of Glass Slipper to just the cuticle line to make sure the glitter was more concentrated at the end.
As you can see, Glass Slipper is a mini bottle. It came in Ciate's advent calendar they are selling at Sephora for $58. I purchased this online through Ebates and got 4% cash back, plus any Sephora orders over $50 are free shipping. I'd say that's a pretty sweet deal for 24 bottles of polish!
Pros- These two colors ended up being the perfect combo for an "it's a boy!" mani.
Cons- Borrowed & Blue didn't have the amazing, thin, self-leveling formula that my favorite Essie's do. It was a bit thick and hard to get even. The advent calendar was also my first Ciate purchase and I found out Ciate polishes smell like Kleancolor polishes. And if you already own any Kleancolor polishes you know that means they STINK.
Overall- I thought Borrowed & Blue was going to be too pale for the look I was going for but it ended up being perfect. I'm so happy with the way it came out (save for the tiny stray glitters that refused to budge from my cuticle line) and it was a big hit. Can't wait to meet my new "nephew" in January!!!!
