I wanted to show how versatile all those polishes are so each swatch shows them over different colors and with a different number of coats. I used China Glaze Strong Adhesion Base Coat and Out the Door Top Coat on all swatches.
First up, we have Velvet Rope. I am a bad blogger and forgot to take a bottle shot of this one and I wanted to get this post up because I know Aphrodite's Etsy Shop is stocked right now so check this out for a bottle shot. Velvet Rope is described as: sheer purple polish base, with a color changing shimmer that goes from blue to purple to pink, and multiple different purple, black, and white glitters. This description is on point. The SHIMMER in all of these polishes slays me. It's just amazing. If you love the shimmer in Lynnderella Connect the Dots, you will die over this. It's better. This is two coats of Velvet Rope over Essence A Lovely Secret. I love purple and I love square glitter. Score! The distribution was smooth and easy and I didn't have to fish for glitter. I did manipulate a few pieces to fill in some space but it was no big deal. I love the way this mani turned out.
Next up, Catfight. I love the names in the collection! Hilarious. Catfight is described as: sheer red polish, with a pinkish purple shimmer, and multiple different red, black, and white glitters, including small red round holo glitters. The base on this one was more tinted than Velvet Rope so I wanted you to see it on it's own.
Pointer: butter London Saucy Jack + 2 coats of Catfight
Middle: 2 coats of Catfight
Ring: Zoya Shelby + 2 coats of Catfight (You can definitely see how much Shelby changed with the red tinted base.)
Pinkie: 2 coats of Catfight
I saved my favorite for last, Disco Ball. Disco Ball is described as: sheer polish, with a silver shimmer, and multiple different silver, black, and white glitter. The shimmer in this one is out of control! I'm in love with the translucent white square glitter. I really couldn't decide what to show this over so I picked four different polishes. Check out our Facebook page to see which one ended up being my full mani! I also want to note that the way the light hits the silver squares makes them look like they are curling but I can assure you that they were not. They laid perfectly flat and I only used one coat of topcoat, no Gelous.
Pointer: Essie Sure Shot + 2 coats of Disco Ball
Middle: Zoya Elodie + 2 coats of Disco Ball
Ring: butter London Yummy Mummy + 2 coats of Disco Ball
Pinkie: Hungry Asian Zera + 2 coats of Disco Ball
|Are you kidding me with that shimmer?? I want more.|
Which color do you think I chose? Which one would you choose?
Pros: I love the creative names and the extremely cohesive collection that we've come to expect from Aphrodite. All of her collections just fit together perfectly.
Cons: I don't have every color in the collection. That's my con. And I loved that shimmer so much that I would have even liked more in the polish.
Overall: This is a great collection and you need to own some.
Aphrodite Lacquers are $8 for a full size bottle and are available through Etsy. The shop is fully stocked so head over there and pick me up a bottle of Gossip, Miniskirt or Peacock Earrings while you're at it.
