(Faux) Fancy Friday - Essie - She's Picture Perfect and Gold As It Gets

Hello!  I have an awesome layering combo for you today that was inspired by a new indie brand, Cirque.  I'm calling this a Faux Fancy Friday post since the Cirue polish retails for $12!  There have been a bunch of great swatches popping up lately and one polish in particular caught my eye, Vaudeville.  Nails and Noms is one of my favorite nail blogs and it was really her swatch that made me die.  I'm on a self imposed no buy, remember this face?  So, I had to figure out a way to get my nails to look like Vaudeville ASAP.

Essie She's Picture Perfect is one of my favorite summer colors.  It's the perfect lavender with a subtle shimmer and I knew As Gold As It Gets would be a great topper.   The flakies in Vaudeville are more of a greenish iridescent and AGAIG is definitely pure gold, but I think it works.  Duped or not, I just love this look.

What do you think?  Have you tried to dupe any polishes that you've seen swatches of?  If so, was it successful?  Let me know!

Ok, I also have a quick nail polish Public Service Announcement for you all.
***ATTENTION WORLD.  IF YOU BREAK ONE NAIL, YOU MUST FILE ALL NAILS DOWN TO MATCH IT.  IT IS UNACCEPTABLE TO HAVE 7 LONG NAILS AND 3 SHORT NAILS.  MATCH THEM UP, PEOPLE.   THIS HAS BEEN A MESSAGE FROM THE EMERGENCY NAIL POLISH JUDGEMENT COMMITTEE.  OVER.***

I broke my pointer and middle fingers last week and while I was tempted to leave all my long nails, I realized that this can not happen.  It looks weird and unkempt.  Yes, I'm saying it.  Short nails are better than ragged nails.  Here are some pics to help you understand how I fixed this tragedy with a wonderful Tweezerman file.   Did you know Tweezerman made nail products?  They do and they are awesome. Check out Anna's post here.

Unacceptable!  2 claws and 2 nubs don't mix.

Get it right!
Happy (Faux) Fancy Friday!  What do you have on your nails for the weekend?

    1. I love Jawbreaker. My bottle is super thick and goopy. How is yours? Did you have to add thinner?

  2. Haha I think everyone has that inner conflict when a nail breaks! I just broke 2 recently and they all came down to match, but I wasn't happy about it! I am more adventurous with color when I have shorter nails though so that is fun :) I am wearing OPI Pompeii Purple this weekend.

    1. Me too! If I have short nails, I'll do Zoya Wednesday or a great blue but if I have claws, I stick with more traditional colors. I feel like they are too in your face when they are long and blinged out.

  3. This is a gorgeous combo! I've seen swatches of She's Picture Perfect 100 times, but this is the first time that I thought I might need this polish. Stunning!

  4. Noooooo, my left index is a complete nubbin at the moment, but the other 9 have somehow managed to be the same length & a sensible shape at the same time. I can't file them, noooooooo. (Actually, I'm fully expecting a break or two over the next few days, I'll file them all when I know the damage)

  5. I would like to add to your PSA. If your polish is chipped, PLEASE TAKE IT OFF!!!! Along with the 7 long, 3 short nails I also think that spot of red in the middle of the nail is not attractive.
