China Glaze Desert Sun

Desert Sun is one of the two colors I picked up recently from the China Glaze Safari collection (the other being Elephant Walk — I'm trying to limit the polishes I buy at the moment and it's becoming a challenge!) This color is a gorgeous melted buttery caramel color! The color is actually a bit warmer and browner than it looks here — exactly like the caramel cubes you melt to dip apples into in the Fall. I think that's why I see it more as a color for cooler weather than summer, despite the desert-y name.
This color just makes me want to lick my fingertips!
Be warned that this color floods like the Nile! It's very pigmented, though, so two thin coats will give complete coverage, but if you load up your brush it's going to pool in your cuticles like an oasis. I had to start over after my first nail, even, it was so unexpectedly thin. Surprisingly with such a formula, I had no problem with bald spots.
Can you believe how yummy this color looks?
Erin recently got Rescue Beauty Lounge Santa Fe so I'm eager to see how they compare. I believe the colors are similar, but hers has a shimmer and this is a creme. I'm not sure, but I think that the Safari collection is LE, so you might want to run out to Sally Beauty Supply or Ulta and grab it while you can. It would be a shame to miss out on such a gorgeous color! I know I'll be wearing it a lot.
Here's the label in case you need the number.

  1. Beautiful shade! Really looks like caramel to me :) Yum!

  2. Nice Shades. Resembling desert. Must be a good choice for those who are planning a desert safari.
