Blue Monday: Essie Bikini So Teeny

I was in Target recently and saw the display for the new Essie Summer 2012 collection, Bikini So Teeny. I also noticed that the row for that particular blue polish was already cleaned out, but! I happened to know that Target also has shelves of Essie against the wall so I headed back there to see if it might also be there. It was! Someone had hidden a bottle in the row of She's Picture Perfect, so I grabbed it. Neener, neener.

Essie's new summer collection includes six shades — two bright pinks, Cascade Cool and Off The Shoulder; Fear Or Desire, a bright orange; Mojito Madness, the best green ever!; All Tied Up, a dusty rose with gold flecks that doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of this collection; and the title polish Bikini So Teeny, a bright pale blue. I got All Tied Up, Mojito Madness, and Bikini So Teeny and because this is Blue Monday, I'll start with that one.

Because of that old song I would have expected this polish to be yellow, with round white glitters ("She wore an itsy bitsy, teeny weeny, yellow polka-dot bikini...") but this does have subtle white glass flecks, so maybe that counts for something. While they are not so visible on the nail unless you are in bright light holding your fingers right under your eyes, they do add an extra dimension to the polish.

The formula on this is a bit thin, resulting in several bald spots even with three coats, but it's still an attention-getter! It's frosty cool and refreshing and probably one of the nicest pale blues I've seen in a while.
