Mother's Day Mani: OPI NYC Ballet

My choosing OPI NYC Ballet for a Mother's Day manicure might give one the impression that my mother was a dancer; she was not, although she did sign me up for ballet lessons when I was about nine or ten in an unsuccessful attempt to make me more graceful. No, I chose it because I think it's beautiful and I love it, and that's how I feel about my mom.
Two layers of My Pointe ExactlyPirouette My Whistle, two more layers of My Pointe Exactly
This was one of those manicures that started out with me looking at it and saying to myself, "what was I thinking???" and ending up with me wanting to wear it for the rest of my life. I started with My Pointe Exactly, a sheer gray creme. I love grays (see my 5(0) Shades of Grey post for some examples) but this is the first gray sheer I've ever tried. Two coats and my hands looked like they were on a corpse. Not too sure about this choice...

Corpse nails!
This was followed by a coat of Pirouette My Whistle, a layering polish of myriad tiny glitters and larger hex glitters. The hexes aren't your typical glitter, however, but what seem to be thin translucent white film, so they don't sparkle, but instead dance in a veil of glimmers. A really lovely effect.

Corpse Bride!
The glitter was a bit too much for me and it really cried out to become a jelly sandwich, so I added two more coats of My Pointe Exactly and topped it with a coat of Seche Vite then stepped back to admire the results. So beautiful and elegant it made my hands seem graceful even though the rest of me is not. So, naturally, I had to get more of the colors, right?

Two coats of Care To Danse?, one of Pirouette My Whistle, two more of Care To Danse?
I decided on Care To Danse? because it's a delicate lilac shade (we know how I love those!) and the others were pinks and peaches, too much like a plain old boring French manicure shade. While it is also very nice, it doesn't hold quite the same appeal for me that the gray does, but they are both definitely coming back for encore performances!

    1. Thanks! These are my first jelly sandwiches and now I want to go through my polishes to see what other jellies I might have that I can play with.
