Discount Discovery: Revlon Smoky Canvas

I love to shop discounts and often find an entire collection of a polish marked down at one of the salvage chains such as Big Lots! and Ocean State Job Lot. I got the entire L'Oreal Colors of Hope collection for $2 each and often see random Revlon colors for only $1.49! I thought I would start posting reviews when I find a good deal because it's possible that the same polish might show up elsewhere at roughly the same time. I know Anna has found the same polishes at Job Lot stores in CT that I've found in MA, and salvage stores such as these tend to spread the haul around the chains.

Today I have a Revlon polish that I spotted with a clearance sticker at one of the Target stores near me. Smoky Canvas was part of the Expressionists collection last fall and, as the only non-glitter polish of the collection, it was probably not selling as well. I really like neutral grays so I was drawn to it, especially the $1.98 price!

Smoky Canvas is a warm, pale gray — the name is surprisingly apt (unusual for a polish these days!) It applied easily and flowed together nicely. I did notice a few bubbles but I think it was actually the surface of my nail because I've seen the same bits in the same area of the same nail more than once; I guess I ought to buff it out, eh?

There was no noticeable tip wear after one day, but I still felt the need to jazz it up a bit, so I added an accent nail of Layla Hologram Effect Mercury Twilight. I love holos! I just wish they were more durable.

This is one of my favorite manicures. I might even keep it on for an extra day.

    1. Same here; I have so many grays that I could do a variety of ombrés — light to dark, cool to warm. What's your favorite?
