| Well, it certainly would seem that I do. |
I'd go into the story of how I ended up with four polishes that all have such similar qualities but that would be boring. They all have teal, green and blue shimmers that remind me of peacock feathers. There's even some glass flecks and flashes of purple in there. It's no wonder I kept picking them up!
All of these colors look very similar but still different enough. This is where I flashback to those famous last words, "It's really different. You should get it."

Notes and Differences
L'Oreal- Blue Marine- I don't have much experience with L'Oreal polishes but I'm really liking what I've tried so far. It's got a nice wide brush that is sort of like OPIs Pro-Wide, just not as fat. I think this one looked best at 4 coats but I could probably make 3 work. Clean-up was the worst. Major staining on my cuticles and around the nail.
OPI- Austin-Tatious Turquoise- Most sheer of the four. I really love OPI's Pro-Wide brush. More blue-toned than the others with the smallest shimmer particles. So sheer I needed five coats to build this one up. The purple is easier to find too.
Orly- Halley's Comet- Almost a one-coater! Obviously the most pigmented of the four. This one is the most packed with shimmer particles and there is a little more gold than the others as well. The other three polishes also flash purple in some lights and Halley's Comet had no purple to be found. Halley's Comet has the largest shimmer particles.
I've seen a few of these polishes compared to Zoya- Charla and OPI- Catch Me In Your Net as well. Maybe I need to pick them up and do a six-way comparison!
The Verdict
Will I keep them all? We'll have to see about that :) Don't forget to enter our 100 Likes Giveaway! There will be TWO winners taking home some Finger Paints Special Effects!!

Thank you so much for this comparison!!!
ReplyDeleteAlthough... now I have a serious problem: I don't yet own any of those, and by the first coat's pic I thought - ok, I'm going to buy Halley's Comet. But by the last two pics I am thinking more and more towards Blue Marine. But I am still asking myself weather I Will have the patience to put on four coats for that....
I'd recommend Haley's Comet and Metamorphosis! The cleanup with Blue Marine was really that bad.
DeleteAnd THIS is what my poor husband just doesn't understand when he sees 4 teal colors standing in a row. He thinks they are all the same, but clearly they are not! :) I love Haley's Comet. Orly is one of my fav inexpensive brands. Do you have others in the FX collection? If you don't they are a-maze-ing! :) P.S. I could probably add a few other teal colors to add to your comparison! :)
ReplyDeleteI bought Lunar Eclipse and thought it was too close to OPI DS Magic (pretty much my favorite polish ever) so Robin and I are swapping. She's going to send me Space Cadet. Galaxy Girl is on my list too!
DeleteI don't have many Orly polishes but everything I've tried so far has been wonderful!
Ooooh! I love teal!!
Austin-tatious Turquoise was one of the first polishes I ever bought and, I'm not going to lie, I was quite disappointed at how sheer it is! I might have to get my hands on Haley's Comet: I adore the pigmentation!
ReplyDeleteWhen Erin and I were shopping the other day she picked up Austin-tacious and I told her about it needing 5 coats. She put it back! It'll be nice layered though.
DeleteHaley's Comet and Metamorphosis are beautiful!! So, odd that you had clean up problems with your L'Oreal. I haven't had issues with any of my L'Oreals yet. If you need to get rid of any of these I don't have anything like this in my collection! ;o) haha
ReplyDeleteBlues and greens are tricky with cleanup. I have a teal Sinful that was my FAVORITE except for the cleanup. Then I found OPI Fly and it comes off so clean! Now I just need to find the full-sized Fly and I'll be set!
DeleteI wish my Helmer was more portable. We could have a polish swap party!
This is true. They always stain the skin. I'll keep my eye open for Fly and see what I can come up with. I know! It'd be so much fun! I'm sure we can figure something out soon! Haha I'd want to use your stamping kit too. I'm curious about it, but don't want to spend the money until I try it.
DeleteLove them all but I like Haley's Comet best. That larger glass-fleck-y finish appeals to me alot! =)
ReplyDeleteHaley's Comet really is so great. They are $10 at Ulta but get one of the $3.50 off coupons and you'll be good!
DeleteI love Haley's Comet! Great comparison!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Haley's Comet is great and you need it if you don't already have it.
DeleteWell, then don't buy butter London Bluey, it's another one of these!
ReplyDeleteOPI catch me in your Net is so good I am never tempted by similar colors. my daughter decided to use it as a franken base and it looks great darkened up, too. No stain issues with it, either.
