St. Patrick's Day Special

Rich green nails with a pot o' leprechaun gold accent
St. Patrick's Day is a pretty big deal in the Boston area, what with parades in many of the local towns and cities and politicians toasting themselves at breakfasts, so I decided that I needed to do up a special manicure for the day, even if I'm only Irish by marriage.

I've collected a wealth of green polishes recently, including that beautiful Agro from China Glaze's Hunger Games collection, so it was a difficult decision as to which one to use. I considered a half-moon mani with a base of Sally Hansen's Green With Envy topped with Sinful Colors' Happy Endings (I wonder if they know what that means?) and I may still do that at a later date because it sounds like a fun one, but I ended up with Revlon's Rain Forest because of its deep, rich green, absolutely packed with shimmery microglitters. Aren't they gorgeous?

I love it! I will definitely use it again, but it needed something extra to make it a St. Patrick's Day manicure and it struck me that an accent nail of gold glitter would be a nod to leprechaun gold, so I dug through my mini bottles to get one from the Sally Girl line at Sally Beauty Supply (sorry, can't recall the name of it!)

The glitter has multi-sized gold hexes that catch the light just perfectly. It's kind of gloopy so I had to maneuver the particles around a bit to get good coverage, then a coat of Gealous to smooth it out and another of Seche Vite to dry & shine and I was good to go!

Even though St. Patrick's Day is only the one day, I am totally rocking this for the whole weekend! I mean, if they can have parades the weekend before, during, and after, why should I limit myself to one day for such splendor?
