Finger Paints Special Effects "Asylum"

Finger Paints Asylum over Revlon Naughty
I really liked Revlon's Naughty, but it was starting to show some wear after a couple of days so instead of just putting on another topcoat I decided to try layering it with one of the other Finger Paint Special Effects, this time using Asylum, which seems to be a combination of Motley and Flashy. I thought that both the blue/greens and red/ambers would go well with the dusty lavender of Naughty and I was right—it really livened it up! Of course, if I had wanted to showcase the flakies I would have layered them over a darker polish such as a black or midnight blue, but here I just wanted to add a little oomph to the grayish purple I'd been wearing for a few days.

A close-up to show off the range of colors
I really like the play of colors in this one, where you get the red/ambers flashing to bronze/greens along the sides in addition to the blues subtly flashing to green here and there. I almost wish I could get these colors as a granite countertop for the bathroom! I probably should have put on another coat of Seche Vite to smooth out the flakies but at this point I have about 6-7 layers of polish and I was afraid they'd start to peel off with more. In the close-up you can see dimples around some of the flakes, but it wasn't enough to really bother me and I was only going to wear it for another day or so.

I'm really excited about the possibilities for these Special Effects polishes. They are especially fun over blacks (I'll try the next one over a sparkly black like Sonia Kashuk's Starry Night) but I can't wait to try them over paler colors or maybe even on their own. Stay tuned for our Special Effects give-away!
