Orly Rock Solid

Hi everyone!  Erin here.  I've had a long affair with nail polish.  I've painted my nails every 2-3 days since I was 14 years old.  I tried to quit nail polish five years ago when I moved to New York City.  Instead, I just got a manicure once a week.  Then I joined Pinterest, saw all the awesome polishes, went out and bought eight bottles in one day.  I haven't looked back since!
Not that holo...

It makes me sad that my first post is not about a polish that I love.  Orly Rock Solid is from the Mineral Fx Collection and I LOVED it in the bottle.  It's a charcoal grey with scattered rainbow holo.  I was so excited to take off my last manicure and put this on.  In the bottle, the holo glitter is so sparkly and wild.  But it gets lost on my nail.  I thought the formula was a little thin.  I rarely use 3 coats but I wasn't happy with 2 coats and thought that 3 might make the holo stand out more.  It didn't.  I would call the holo "sparse."  Really, really sparse.  I always use old school pink Sally Hansen Hard As Nails hardener as a base coat and Seche Vite  as a topper.  I could have used 2 coats of SV but I really didn't love the manicure enough to put on six coats of polish and deal with taking it off the next day.  I left it on for a day and a half.  I didn't have any chipping or tip wear.
Bottle Shot. Way more impressive than on the nail.
Overall, it's not bad on the nail.  It's just not the same as it is in the bottle.  It almost makes me sad to look at it.  I had such high hopes.  Do you have any of the Orly Mineral FX Collection?  Are there better colors?
